January 31st Update

Well, if most of you are like me, January flew by. And somewhat literally with that tornado, eh? We were able to "test" our basement bunker. Staff and students were quite safe from the "winter" winds.

We have much to give thanks for all of your support, encouragement, and financial giving. Please pray for us, as the coming months generally see a decrease in donations that come in; however, we have increased our monthly operations expenses with the administrative costs of running this ministry. We are confident that God will meet every need, not only financial, but the spiritual and physical of the staff and students.

We currently have Stephanie, Katie, Amanda, Amber, Brittney, Hailey, and Beth as students.
Abby starts on Monday. Please keep them in your prayers.

Many of you have inquired about helping out with items needed at the school. The following is a list:

Paper towels
Cleaning supplies
Large fitness ball
Groceries for the hot lunch program
Kleenex
Clear sheet protectors
Toilet paper

Other items needed are :

Gift certificates - Blockbuster, Movie Theater, Taco Bell, Subway, McDonalds, Kohls, WalMart, etc.
Train (Metra) Passes - for field trip to Chicago

Special thanks to Jenny Ray, who came and volunteered her time to finish decorating the bathrooms for the school. She was also gracious enough to take some photos and include them in her design motif.

We are in need of a volunteer to come in the mornings and answer the phone for the school. If you are interested, please call Tina at 262.275.6466.

Look for some photos to go up next week !

January 18th Informational Luncheon

Today we hosted an information luncheon for area churches and pastors. Our Executive Director, Pam Patterson led the presentation about our ministries available through Agape House which include: Prayer, Mentoring, Financial Counseling, Respite Care, Transitional Living Program, Counseling, and the Agape School. We are also in the process of renovating the dorms and houseparent quarters to open the Teen Home in the fall.

Photos were taken from today's presentation, which included a performance by some of the girls from the Agape School. Hailey, Katie, Emily, Stephanie, and Amber sang a worship song, while Beth did an originally choreographed ballet performance. We missed Amanda who could not be with us due to illness. We are hoping to have the video of the performance on-line next week.

We are welcoming a new student, Brittany to school on Monday. Please pray for the progress of all the girls, as well as the staff, board members and volunteers.

Please pray for protection, specifically against spiritual warfare, as we see the growth and God moving in these girls' lives, we know that the enemy would desire that work to be thwarted.

We have a specific need for any individuals who would be interested in donating to help underwrite the cost of tuition. The monthly expenses per student is $500 and many families are simply unable to meet that amount. Your donation in any amount to cover tuition is tax-deductible.

We want to offer Praise to God for the miracles we see happening in the lives of these girls each day. Their academic progress is definitely praise-worthy. We also appreciate their hospitality, in welcoming new girls that come to the school.

Bless each one of you for your thoughts and prayers for Agape School, the Staff, and the ministries of Agape House.

You are welcome to attend a luncheon at 215 S. Main Street in Walworth at noon on Friday, January 18th to hear more about Agape House and Agape School.
